Puppy and Dog Training

Train your DOG privately with a certified IMDT trainer

My private 1-2-1 dog training packages are offered to encourage your family to work in unison and achieve some amazing results with your pooch. I will help you achieve a stronger bond with your dog which will boost your dog's confidence and happiness. As we work towards these positive goals, you will start to see an improvement in your dog's behaviour. I have extensive experience of working directly with families, including advising on self-help tools to support your family's emotional well-being.

During a training session, as an example, we can deal with foundation skills like eye contact, learning to settle down, stay in sit or stand position, and safe handling for family, vets and groomers. We can work on release and 'leave it' cues as well as promoting polite greetings i.e. no jumping or barking. If your dog has already mastered these topics, we can move onto areas like improving your dog's recall or loose lead walking. You may even want to find out about emergency stops or how to use a hand touch to get your dog's focus back to you. Maybe you are worried about your dog's behaviour like showing signs of anxiety, being unsocial, soiling, or resource guarding. Bottom line, you are in control of your wish list, I will design your personalised training plan accordingly.

I will also introduce the concept of enrichment activities to keep your dog occupied and mentally challenged. You see, training is not just about achieving a required behaviour, it is equally an amazing opportunity to develop a stronger bond between you and your canine friend. From positive force free training and enrichment activities, your dog will acquire more confidence by making choices which will prevent unwanted behaviours.

Motivating your dog through the use of games and positive exercises will result in better mental well-being and a greater responsiveness. Most importantly, you will be having fun together which surely is the ultimate goal of having a dog in your family. Let's meet up if you are in the Kettering area!

Puppy Training

Welcoming your new puppy to your family...the right way!

My private 1-2-1 puppy training packages allow you to train your puppy faster as you will have my undivided focus. Puppy training can take place either at your home or at my premises in Barton Seagrave, Kettering, without the distractions of a puppy class environment.

It is never too early to start...

Puppy 'training' should start at the breeders! Of course, the focus here would be on puppy socialisation and handling, discover more in my free guides. When puppy arrives in your home, you will benefit substantially from booking your first puppy training sessions early to help you set up for the future. Once your puppy is settled and ready, we will also introduce your puppy to training and enrichment concepts from an early age. I am here to guide you with my force free positive approach to puppy training, socialisation and enrichment activities.

I can help you at this crucial stage if you are living in the Kettering area. My puppy training methods will provide you and your puppy with the chance to develop an even deeper bond through working together while having fun with the puppy exercises and games. I can't wait to meet your bundle of joy, and see your puppy grow into a confident and sociable adult dog.

There are various benefits to training your puppy privately, like the fact that everyone in the family can take part as there is time for all family members. You can pick the days and times most suitable to your schedule and your puppy will feel more confident in a familiar, safe environment.

During the 1-2-1 sessions, your puppy will have my full attention which is why progression is faster and more consistent. I can provide you with a tried and tested training framework but, equally, I am able to accommodate your wishes should you have something specific in mind. The aim is to keep the activities fun for you while your puppy soaks up the learning. As we work towards building your puppy's confidence, you are on the way to ensuring that your puppy will develop into a well-adjusted adult dog who is keen to listen to you and make you proud. I have extensive experience of working directly with children and families, including advising on self-help tools to support your family's emotional well-being during these stressful early months of your puppy's life.

In the puppy training, as an example, we can cover foundation skills like eye contact, reflex to name, socialising, learning to settle down, stay in sit or stand position, house training issues, as well as safe handling for family, vets and groomers. As we progress, we can introduce recall and loose lead walking, continuously adding more distractions and distance for any activity. We can also work on release and 'leave it' cues as well as promoting polite greetings i.e. no jumping or barking. You may even want to find out about some neat puppy tricks to show to family and friends. While your puppy is young, I strongly recommend getting into the habit of using enrichment activities to keep your puppy occupied and mentally challenged. If you are interested, I will show you how to make your puppy's life fun and stimulating. Ultimately, you decide what goes on your puppy training wish list, I promise to give your puppy the best possible start in life.

My puppy has arrived, is 8 weeks too young to start training? The initial weeks of a puppy's life in their new home can make a big difference to their behaviour as an adult dog. If your puppy is between 8-12 weeks, I recommend that the initial sessions are carried out in your home. I offer advice on all things puppy! It is all about giving your puppy a wide range of experiences in positive and engaging ways which is why you should book your puppy sessions as early as possible. During these early weeks, you will be provided with some proven and tested puppy recommendations, which are both practical and fun. I will guide you in how to get your puppy to fit into their new environment by covering topics like sleeping at night, feeding routines, house training, play time, socialising, and handling.

The aim is to encourage your puppy to be relaxed, confident and friendly. As part of my home visit, I want to ensure that everyone your puppy meets, everything they see and everywhere they go, turns into a positive experience for your puppy, and that they learn some house rules at the same time! Want to know more or book your first puppy training session, reach out to me.
